TV3 visited us at the new headquarters of the Joan Oró Foundation

On May 17, the Joan Oró Foundation received a visit from TV3, to publicize the new headquarters of the Joan Oró Foundation in Lleida, which tells a large part of the legacy of the scientist from Lleida. This legacy contains all the documentation that Joan Oró took in 1999 from Hosuton (United States) to Lleida and you can find more than 3,000 scientific books, documents, diaries, letters, meteorites.

Francesc Oró, President of the Joan Oró Foundation commented “that many memories are kept, both personal and professional.”

Xavier Roqué, Deputy Director of the Institute for the History of Science explains “that it is an extraordinary collection as it is a very complete and unique trace of the work and life of a well-known scientist, who helped us understand the origin of life on earth, and life in space, among many others”

And finally, Ivan López, who is doing the thesis “History of exobiology from Joan Oró” comments that “the thesis proposes a history of the constitution of exobiology from the figure of Joan Oró, who was one of the main actors who participated in the missions that shaped this scientific discipline”.
